Tuesday morning of the Apologetics Mega Conference began with a devotional by David Chakranarayan. He commented on Philippians 1:9–11:
And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
David explained that love is divine in its nature and origin. It is produced in Christians by the working of the Holy Spirit. As such, it is a sure mark of saving faith in a believer. Finally, love should continue to overflow in the life of a believer.
Dr. David Menton: Beauty Is Skin Deep
The first full session of the day was a presentation by Dr. David Menton. He pointed to numerous design features of the human skin that defy naturalistic explanations. He explained the various shades of skin color and why the concept of “race” is actually a societal convention. Sweat glands and hair follicles were also discussed to show how only an omniscient Creator could have designed such incredible features. Many of the images used in the presentation were taken by Dr. Menton through high-powered microscopes.
Dr. Andrew Snelling: Geology Confirms the Scriptures
Dr. Snelling compared and contrasted the biblical worldview with long-age interpretations of the rock layers and the fossils contained therein. Both sides have the exact same evidence, but the difference is in how we interpret this data. Dr. Snelling showed several examples from around the world that are perfectly consistent with the catastrophic processes which would have accompanied the biblical account of the Flood, but cannot be explained by long-age, uniformitarian processes. Dr. Snelling concluded, “So the Bible wins hands down in every earthly thing we can test, including the earth’s geology.”
If that is true, then why don’t people believe the Bible in this area? Dr. Snelling responded by pointing out that this is a spiritual battle. Their unbelief is due to their vain reasoning (Romans 1:21). “God’s Word always trumps finite, fallible human reasoning.”
