What to Save from The Incredible Race for Mystery Island

It’s VBS season all across the United States, and as churches wrap up using The Incredible Race, it’s time to start thinking ahead towards next year and Mystery Island because there are probably some items you can save to use next year.

Obviously, with a name like Mystery Island, you can expect to be decorating with beach, and island themes. Since during The Incredible Race you probably decorated with international themes, including tropical, jungle, or beach décor, you can save those items for next year! Things like:

• Jungle vines
• Palm trees
• Baskets and crates
• Tropical birds and animals (i.e., lizards, monkeys, butterflies, etc.)
• Waterfall
• Colored table cloths

Think creatively on how to reuse things you already have! The more you can save this year, the less you have to purchase or make next year.

For example, if you made a ziggurat pyramid this year, can you change that into a volcano for Mystery Island? Obviously, if something is very difficult or too bulky to store, take pictures to remind you how to make one and save the hardest-to-make parts to use next year, and dispose of the rest. Of course, be sure to save any wooden frames, clips, piping, and other materials to be reused again.

If you still have any Ocean Commotion items (from 2016), get ready to dig those out too. They will definitely come in handy!
