DevOps Engineer

Open Position at Creation Museum

We are looking for an adept DevOps engineer to join our team with experience building and scaling services in a cloud environment. The candidate will work closely with development and security teams to maintain and enhance the operational processes that support the ministry’s web presence. The candidate will assess current processes and lead the way toward process improvement. Must have a desire to streamline process, promote security, increase efficiency, and look to continuously improve. Working in Petersburg, KY preferred but not required.



  1. Maintain and improve our team’s cloud AWS infrastructure
  2. Provide the vision for maintaining highly available Linux systems
  3. Provide ongoing support to our team of developers through the SDLC
  4. Optimize processes with automation and expanded CI/CD tooling
  5. Implement zero down-time deployment strategy
  6. Implement and maintain a disaster recovery plan
  7. Define and manage the improvements needed in the infrastructure
  8. All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management




  1. Proficient with Linux, cloud service, and open-source technology; well-versed in DevOps      methodologies
  2. Eager to learn, explore new technologies; a motivated, self-starter
  3. Ability to present and communicate the architecture in a visual form
  4. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  5. Process-oriented with strong documentation skills
  6. Team player who can collaborate with and support a web development team
  7. Strong grasp of automation tools, ideologies, and processes
  8. Ability to use coding languages or scripting methodologies to solve infrastructure-related problems with a custom workflow
  9. Must agree with and be able to sign our Statement of Faith
  10. Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
  11. Regular attendance at a local, Bible-believing church



  1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information science, or related field preferred
  2. 3+ years’ experience with DevOps and Linux Administration
  3. Strong knowledge of Ubuntu, Unix/Linux, and open-source software such as Nginx, Uwsgi, Pgpool2
  4. Working knowledge of AWS and associated tools such as AWS CLI, EC2, RDS, S3, etc.
  5. Experience in State Management and Configuration tools such as Chef or Ansible
  6. Experience administering and deploying CI/CD tools such as Jira, GitLab, or Jenkins
  7. Experience with Git, event driven automation, APIs, webhooks, pipelining (Jenkins)
  8. Proficient understanding of a web request/response lifecycle
  9. Familiarity with metric/log aggregation tools (such as Rapid7 or CloudWatch), event-based      alerting, remediation process development
  10. Preferred experience with Django/Python, Containers, and Virtual Environments
