Jesus—He Was Before Creation!

If someone asked you when you came into existence, you might say, “When my mom became pregnant” or you might give them your birthday. But what would you say if someone asked you when Jesus came into existence?

If we want to know something about Jesus, where should we look? The Bible! It is the source of truth about everything, including Jesus. And this is what the Bible tells us about Jesus:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. (John 1:1–3)

For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. (Colossians 1:16–17)

This tells us that Jesus is the Creator! He made everything! This means he existed before anything was created, and since he created time, this means he existed before time. God is outside of time. That’s hard for us to understand because we’re bound by time, but God isn’t. Jesus, who is God, has existed from eternity past. He’s always existed and always will! This means Jesus has always been and always will be with us.

How Is Jesus the Creator?

Jesus is the Creator God because God is a triune God. This means God is one God but three Persons. Those Persons are God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and the God the Holy Spirit. One God, three Persons.
