The Solution

This diagram illustrates the solution to the problem portrayed in Castle Diagram #1 ('The Problem'). As previously mentioned, the solution is not just to fight social ills such as abortion, but at the same time to deal with the foundational nature of societal change that has resulted in such issues becoming prevalent in the culture.

It is important to understand that the primary aim of a Christian shouldn't be simply to go out and try to change the culture, but to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and see people converted, committed to the Lord, and build their thinking on the Bible. These people will then develop a Christian worldview and be the salt and light in the culture, resulting in cultural change.

But when you preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ today to a culture that has changed foundation, many just scoff because they believe that science has proven that the Bible is not credible. They ask questions challenging the history of the Bible—questions such as: Where did God come from? Where did the Bible come from? Where did Cain get his wife? What about the billions of years? How did Noah get all the animals on the Ark? How could there be enough water to cover the earth for a global flood? and so on.

These people have been trained to believe that the Bible's history cannot be trusted in Genesis—that the Bible is not credible. When Christians are trained to give answers as 1 Peter 3:15 commands us to do (to show these people that we can uphold the authority of the Word of God and defend the Christian faith, in order to show that the Bible's history is credible, fits with real science, and makes sense of the real world), then many do have their hearts opened by the Holy Spirit to listen to the rest of God's Word and the Gospel.

Thus the solution to the collapse of the Christian worldview in our Western culture is to restore the foundation of the authority of the Word of God beginning with Genesis 1–11 as real history. This will counteract the world's teachings that undermine the authority of Scripture and also reveal the bankruptcy of evolutionary ideas and the teaching of millions of years. In doing so, we can deal foundationally with the shift that has occurred in our culture. At the same time, we must also stand firm on the Christian morality of the Bible and let the world know about the evils of abortion, homosexual behavior, etc. In other words, the battle cannot be fought only at the level of the symptoms—it has to be one that begins with the level of the foundation as well as the symptoms.

This observation also relates to evangelism. More and more, Christians today cannot simply go out and tell non-Christians to trust in Jesus and repent of their sin, because they no longer have a foundation to understand the meaning of sin or who Jesus is. In other words, there are increasing numbers of people in our Western culture who have been taught a different history and therefore don't even understand that they are lost, let alone that they need to be saved.
